Lotek 04 - Morgan "Malfunction" & "Bezerk"
Side A - Malfunction (MP3 /
Buy)
Side B - Bezerk (MP3 /
Buy)
Release Date: December 2001
This is Morgan's first release on Lotek
Records. Malfunction features hard hitting
beats with a bottom heavy bassline. The break
down features a full-on old school break beat, with
a driving synth lead. The flip side is a bit
funkier with solid percussion and the vocal sample
from the original Bezerk arcade game. A dark,
gritty synth comes in over some seriously wicked
break beats towards the middle as the beat comes
back harder than ever.
Press: From FreeBass
Magazine
"DJ Morgan makes his mark with his debut 2
tracker on his own label Lotek. I've known Morgan
for a while and I can really see his roots on both
of these tunes! "Malfunction", the harder of
the two, throbs with bass and lifts a couple of
familiar samples, then lays down the breaks!
"Bezerk" again uses breakbeats as a center piece,
but kicks up the funk factor a bit. Both tunes
are well done and a fine debut!"

Lotek 05 - Pranksterz "A Typical Number"
Side A - Unity Mix
(MP3
/
Buy)
Side B - Loud and Low Mix (MP3
/
Buy)
Release Date: Arpil 2002
Since their first track written together in 1999 the
Pranksterz (Acid Ted & Steve Kyte) have established
themselves as leaders in the HardNRG field by always
staying true to their unique sound, and avoiding the
cliches of most modern hard house/hardnrg. This
release on Lotek shows amazing versatility in their
production. Both sides are complete and utter
madness! Between the hoover basslines, filthy acid
builds, driving synth lines, breakbeats and many a
wicked vocal cuts, there is not much more one could
ask of a record.

Lotek 06 - Morgan vs Kid Bippy "Hurricane" & "Baddest
DJ's"
Side A - Hurricane (MP3
/
Buy)
Side B - Baddest DJ's (MP3
/
Buy)
Release Date: September 2002
For Morgan's second release on Lotek
Records he has teamed up with San Francisco based DJ
Kid Bippy. Both tracks show a return to the
old school, classic breaks infused with driving
basslines. Hurricane is sure to tear across
the dance floor with its bottom heavy style and
relentless synth, while Baddest DJ's puts down a bit of a groove with its
use of infamous vocal samples and light hoover stabs.
Morgan and Kid Bippy have some great ideas for
future releases, so keep your eyes on these two!
Press: From Energy UK
"Kicking off this selection of tune reviews is
the thundering Hurricane from Morgan vs Kid Bibby.
Proving that the Americans can make storming tunes
equally as good as the UK counterparts, this firey
pounding breakbeat lashed energy frenzy on Lotek is
just whats needed at 4am on a packed sweat-soaked
floor – big, far, noisy beefy mayhem!! Subtle it
aint, successful it most certainly is!"
